A Word About Mulch

Mulching is one of the best things you can do for your soil and plants. The proper mulch is a natural and organic way to encourage healthy growth of your plants. It also can help enrich the soil. A fresh layer of mulch will help prevent weeds. By mulching you can also moderate the temperature of your soil. In dry weather, it can help the soil retain moisture and reduce the need for watering. Mulch acts as an insulation barrier helping to protect against the extreme conditions of both the summer and winter. Mulching is very attractive and can add to the natural and beautiful look of any landscape. It comes in a variety of colors, types and textures.

How to Choose the Right Mulch

Choosing the right mulch greatly depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If your only goal is making your yard look attractive, you can simply choose the one you think looks best. If you want to have mulch around plants such as annuals and perennials then mulch with smaller pieces would work best. If you're unsure, just give us a call.

 Delivery and pickup orders outside of standard business hours may be arranged by appointment.


Discounts: (not applicable to delivery costs)

  • Bulk discount of 5% applies to orders of 10-19 cubic yards.    
  • Bulk discount of 10% applies to all orders 20 cubic yards or greater.   
  • 15% discount applies to all Schools and Non-Profit Organizations.    
  • Maximum discount is 20%.
  • Landscape and Contractor discounts are available, contact us for specific details.

Eligible customers will receive the greatest single qualifying savings discount. Discounts are set at the discretion of Asheville Mulch Yard and are subject to change without notice.


Delivery Information:

  • You may order online (see "Delivery" page) or contact anyone of our four locations to schedule your delivery. We ask that you provide us with a 3 business day notice of your desired delivery time.
  • Area for dump must be hard, level surface and have ample clearance for truck width, length and raising the dump bed.  Dumping on street regulated by local ordinances. 
  • Note: Someone must be present (phone contact) on day/time of delivery.
  • Delivery Fee: 0 - 5 miles $39;  5.1 - 10 miles $49;  greater than 10 miles $5 per mile (one way).
  • $125 minimum (including delivery) purchase required.
  • Truck Capacities: Mulch - 20 yards; Soil & Conditioners - 10-15 yards.
  • Payment is due at time of delivery: Cash, Check, Visa, MC, AMEX, or Discover. 


Coverage:

  • One Cubic Yard will cover approximately 80 sq ft at 4 inches deep or 100 sq ft at 3 inches deep.  
  • Small Pickup will hold approx 1 cubic yard of topsoil or amendments and 1.5 cubic yards of mulch.    
  • Full size will hold approx 1-2 cubic yards of topsoil/amendments and up to 3 cubic yards of mulch.
